Rock Hill – York County – Charlotte Rapid Transit Study

The Rock Hill – York County – Charlotte (RYC) Rapid Transit Study was completed in 2007 and identifies several needs and issues that transit could play a role in addressing.  These issues include: worsening congestion, trip-making patterns for Rock Hill – York County commuters to Charlotte, area land use patterns, mobility options for disadvantaged communities, and support of growing population and employment centers.

The primary product of the study is a Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA) which is a transit alternative which takes into account the transit modal technology (vehicle type) and corridor alignment (route).  The LPA recommended Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) be implemented along the US-21 corridor from downtown Rock Hill to the I-485 Light Rail Station.
